The Changing Times

Monthly Publication and Events

Founded by Moving Sidewalk, The Changing Times was an itinerant physical newspaper that ran from 2017 to 2020, reporting from points around the globe from New Mexico to Tokyo. Its content emerged through on-the-ground research: conversations, engagements, archival study, and creative exploration. An issue of the paper was released monthly and mailed to subscribers, and locals from the monthly location were invited to a community event in celebration of the cultural archive created by The Changing Times. This project was a chance for Moving Sidewalk to bring deep listening into disparate communities during a divisive media and political climate. The publication was printed at myriad locations including four risograph studios, a cold web press, and offset printers.
